Sikkim in the Indian Himalayas is a region of stunning natural beauty, cultural diversity, and ecological importance. It offers a unique blend of adventure, spirituality, and tranquility.

Sikkim is home to several peaks, including Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world. The region also boasts lush valleys, deep gorges, fast-flowing rivers, and numerous waterfalls.

The state is covered with dense forests that are home to a wide variety of plant and animal species. It's a paradise for nature enthusiasts and trekkers. You can find rhododendrons, orchids, and a range of medicinal plants in the forests. The region is also home to diverse wildlife, including red pandas, Himalayan tahr, snow leopards, and numerous bird species.

Sikkim is a melting pot of cultures, with a mix of ethnic groups including the Bhutias, Lepchas, and Nepalese. The culture of Sikkim is heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, and you'll find numerous monasteries (gomphas) and stupas dotting the landscape. The people of Sikkim are known for their warm hospitality and traditional festivals, including Losar and Dashain.

Sikkim is also known for its commitment to environmental conservation. It was declared India's first organic state, and efforts are made to promote sustainable tourism and protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

DAY 1 - BAGDOGRA TO HEE BERMIOK

Our journey begins with a pickup from the Bagdogra airport and a scenic drive to Hee Bermiok in West Sikkim. As we make our way, the landscape gradually transforms from the dusty and busy roads of Siliguri to the lush green mountains. Along the way, we'll be accompanied by the Teesta river for the first half of the drive until we break off at Meli. As we enter Sikkim, the landscape changes again and we'll be in the company of the Rangit river. Our overnight stay will be at Dhungay homestay or a similar option.

DAY 2 - HEE BERMIOK

Hee Bermiok is a fascinating cluster of villages situated around the Hee River. It is the traditional homeland of the Limboo community, who have lived in this region long before the arrival of Tibetan settlers in Sikkim. Today, we will take a leisurely walk through the villages to learn more about this peace-loving community.

Our stay tonight will be at a local homestay, where we will enjoy the warm hospitality of a local Sikkimese family.

DAY 3 - HEE BERMIOK TO PELLING

Our next stop takes us further west to the charming town of Pelling. As we arrive in Pelling, we will visit the Pemagyatse Monastery, a site that is both ancient and holy. The monastery is a revered place of worship for the Nyngma sect of Buddhism, and it is one of the oldest monasteries in the region. It is also known as the Monastery of Pure Monks, as only monks of a pure Tibetan lineage are permitted to reside within its walls.

DAY 4 - PELLING TO YUKSOM

We embark on a journey to the serene Khecheopalri lake, nestled amidst lush hills, as the morning arrives. It is a revered spot among locals who believe that wishes made here are granted by the deity of the lake. You can choose to hike up to the viewpoint for a panoramic view of the lake. After this, we head to Yuksom, which was the first capital of Sikkim and also serves as the base for the Dzongri trek. We visit the Norbughang complex here, which witnessed the coronation of the first Chogyal of Sikkim in 1642. Spend the night at Ejam Residency or a similar stay.
